Esophageal varices

Type: Multiple causes

Generalities:

It is the inflammation of the veins of the esophagus. The most common cause is due to liver disorders, such as Cirrhosis and Portal Hypertension. The reduction of the blood flow through the liver causes it to be diverted to the esophagus, and sometimes to the stomach. If the veins burst, they can bleed. They do not produce symptoms, they can only be observed as black beans in the feces or blood in the feces. The greatest danger is the loss of blood.
