Generalities:

Mucor: fungal genus belonging to the Mucoraceae family that forms delicate tubular filament. It causes infection called mucormycosis.

It mainly affects immunosuppressed people presenting infection in paranasal sinuses, brain and lungs.

It can also occur in case of burns, leukemia, prolonged use of steroids, metabolic acidosis, malnutrition or even by the use of some medications.

More common by decaying food.
