Generalities:
Anaphylactic shock is a type of allergic reaction caused by different factors such as:
- Food (see food allergy)
- Medications (see chronic intoxication)
- Various substances ingested, inhaled or in contact with the skin.
- Blood components: proteins, hormones, enzymes, etc.
- Insect bite: bee, spider, scorpion, etc.
The person's immune system reacts by causing a generalized inflammation that can be life-threatening in a few minutes, mainly due to the inflammation of the bronchi and throat that can cause suffocation, as well as the alteration of the nervous and cardiovascular systems (decrease of blood pressure).
Symptoms:
Immediately the skin is altered (redness, urticari), eyes and nose begin to congest. In a few minutes the person may have difficulty breathing, vomiting, dizziness, migraine, mental confusion, loss of consciousness.
You must act promptly: call the emergency services, apply the pair. The pair stimulates the production of epinephrine.
